Position Purpose

The Intern is responsible for the operation and execution of miscellaneous duties for all events and functions and office duties that may be assigned.  This position will assist the Vice President, Arena Operations and the Director of Guest Services in the coordination of facility management and the front of house management of all events at FedExForum.  The Intern will work with all departments within the Arena Operations department to help in the execution of events and develop their understanding and skills as a successful Arena Manager.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide support within the Arena Operations Department for day-to-day operations and all event productions
  • Assist the Guest Services management staff in the hiring, training and management of the event staff
  • Assist the Vice President, Arena Operations in general office duties and event needs as assigned
  • Develop and maintain post event summary and correspondence as required for all events
  • Work with third party sub-contractors to insure all event needs are met
  • Help coordinate with assigned departments their needs to fulfill requirements for Arena events and functions
  • Work closely with various arena departments to understand their role within the organization and Arena
  • Help manage/coordinate front of house functions for assigned events
  • Help manage/coordinate assigned (various) departmental special projects
  • Develop and maintain post event summary and correspondence as required for all events
  • Other duties as assigned

  

Required Skills, Experience & Abilities

Essential:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university or recent college graduate;
  • An interest in Sports Management, Facility Management, Event Management, Hospitality Management or related field of study
  • Effective communicator in a high pressure and dynamic work environment.  Proven decision maker in pressure situations
  • Skill and ability to organize, plan and prioritize daily workloads; proven ability to meet stringent deadlines through multi-tasking and ability to work effectively in high pressure situations
  • Ability to work as a team player and support a team environment
  • Demonstrated skill in providing high standards of quality service
  • Skill in establishing strong customer relations and meeting or exceeding customer needs and expectations
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required
  • Computer literate

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and AutoCAD Suite
  • Knowledge and passion of NBA Basketball.
