Position overview

In this role, you will fulfill advertising and design needs for Hornets Sports & Entertainment including design, development, and presentation of internal and external advertising creative, corporate partnership creative, brand marketing creative, sales campaign creative, and arena marketing creative. This position will work closely with internal clients including partnerships, ticket operations, corporate social responsibility, sales, services and arena operations. You will report directly to our Creative Director.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for design conception and layout for print and digital graphic artwork within Hornets and HSE, specifically supporting sales, service, partnerships, marketing, community, arena, human resources, and ticket operations departments
  • Execute graphic design projects including but not limited to, sales collateral, advertisement campaigns, arena graphics, digital ads, season tickets projects, packaging, logo design, and presentation decks for partnerships and marketing departments
  • Works within assigned timelines and produce materials that serve the intended function determined by job requestor
  • Works efficiently alongside other print, video and animation creatives as part of an internal creative team
  • Work effectively as a brand ambassador for the organization and representative of the Creative Services group
  • Prepare appropriate files for printers and vendors
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Have a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design with a displayed interest in branding and advertising specific to the sports or entertainment industries is required
  • Knowledge of basketball and sports; knowledge of Hornets a plus
  • Must have working knowledge of print production and retouching process
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in using graphic design software in a MAC environment
  • You are required to have skills and abilities in the following areas:
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Apple Keynote and/or Microsoft Powerpoint
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Presents self in a professional manner and has the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts
  • Must be able to understand and achieve the functional purposes and business goals of each assigned project
  • Possession of strong interpersonal skills; listening and working well with others and in a team environment
  • Possession of excellent communication skills, including written and verbal, and have the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize work activities and use time efficiently
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Proven ability to adapt to change in the work environment; capable of balancing multiple demands, projects, and changes simultaneously
  • Demonstrated dependability; consistently at work on time, follows instructions, and responds to manager’s direction
  • Must be honest and possess integrity
  • Must be open to coaching and differentiating perspectives
  • Willing to work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays
